Please find all relevant updates from the Club below with regard to reopening the Club and reintroducing Club activities.
Revised Government Face Covering Guidance
From tomorrow, there is revised guidance which lists social clubs as requiring masks to be worn when inside. However, we understand that Private Member Clubs which serve alcohol do not come into this social club category. Private Member Clubs are classed along side ‘restaurants with table service and pubs’ as venues which do not require mask usage when customers are inside the premises. Therefore, Members and their guests can continue to use the Club without needing to wear a mask.
30th July 2020
Bingo & Quiz Nights will resume from Tuesday 1st September.
10th July 2020
Live Sport will resume from tomorrow (Saturday 11th July).
7th July 2020
The Snooker Tables will reopen on Saturday 11th July. We are still working on bringing back Live Sport. Some Club activities will resume shortly. I will provide further updates as soon as the green light is given for each activity.
6th July 2020
Guests, affiliated members and temporary members will be able to use the Club from Saturday 11th July. The Booking system will also not be used from this date. Please check in with a member of staff when you enter the Club so we can take your details.
From this Friday, the opening hours will change slightly. We will open 11am-11pm 7 days a week. Once we are allowed to resume with Live Music, the opening hours on weekends will revert back to normal. We will be reducing the staff working during the evenings to 1 during the week and 2 on weekends. To ensure they are not in the building alone should something happen, I will be doing office work in the evenings from next week so the office will be unmanned during the day. Please email if you have a query as I can pick these up at home. If you need to call me, please select option 3 for the office when calling the Club as this is still diverted to my mobile. I will be on childcare duties during some days so i may have to call you back if my hands are full!
We are still waiting on further guidance in relation to Live Sport. Environmental Health have advised us to leave all TV's off for the moment. With only a few games left of the Premier League season and the next season not starting until September, it may not be worth resuming our Sky subscription until September as it is a fairly large monthly cost. Our BT Sports subscription is free until September so we will be able to broadcast games on that Channel as well as the ones on BBC as soon we get the green light.
Snooker & Darts
I have spoken to our Health & Safety Consultant about the Snooker Tables and Dart Boards and he has advised not to open the Snooker tables until Snooker Clubs reopen as the guidance is very vague. The Dart Boards will remain closed for the foreseeable future to avoid furniture being moved around to use them.
There will be no Line Dancing, Bingo, Quiz Night, Tea Dance or Raffles for at least a few more weeks. We will introduce these gradually as the guidance becomes clearer.
The Bonus Ball Draw is Di's baby, she is currently shielding and will not return to work until August so i plan to leave that until then. With a lot of our members also still shielding, it would be unfair to resume it now and then ask them to pay for the weeks they were unable to visit the Club when they can return. Saturday 21st March is still due to be paid to the winners and will be paid out shortly. We suspended it from that date so no money is due from when the Club was closed and no winnings will be paid from that time either.
We currently have new carpet for the 'Sports Bar' area, Snooker area and new flooring for around the Bar on order. Due to a lot of these companies still having large parts of their workforce of Furlough leave, its taking a little longer than we had hoped. When these are fitted, we may have to close the Club for a few hours on a Monday but i will let you know dates and times when i have more information.
At the moment it looks like it may be some time until we can safely hold a Cabaret Night. The Jersey Boys tribute rescheduled for the 4th September is extremely unlikely to go ahead. At the moment, i would request all members that have purchased tickets or booked a table to hold on to your tickets until we have a concrete new date. At this point, if you can't make the new date we will offer full refunds. The same also applies for the Go Span Duran Cabaret Night. Both will 100% go ahead at some point, but we will have to wait and see when that might be.
We legally need to hold an AGM every year which obviously hasn't been possible so far this year. At the moment we can only hold a gathering of up to 30 people in the Regency Suite. Our rule book requires 30 members to be present plus the President, Chairman, Treasurer and Manager so we will have to hold back a little longer until the Government relax that rule. We may look at holding this online via Zoom but we will give 21 clear days notice of our intentions whichever way we choose to go.
I have been asked by a few members if the Club has any plans to reimburse members for the time they weren't able to use the Club. Unfortunately this is out of my hands and is a Committee decision. I can confirm the Committee will look into the Financial aspects of this and make a decision when they are able to hold a full Management & Finance Committee meeting.
The Bar refurbishment was completed in time for our reopening. A huge amount of work went into it during the final week to make sure everything was perfect, it involved a few late nights but we got there!
4th July 2020
The Club is now open! Please find the full reopening plan below with the new procedures we have implemented to make the Club a safe place to visit.
